Employment equity aims to correct disadvantages in employment experienced by equity deserving groups and introduce positive measures to promote a more representative and inclusive workforce. Dalhousie’s Employment Equity Plan (https://www.dal.ca/dept/hr/employment_equity.html) provides us with a set of overarching priorities and concrete actions that will help us realize equity in employment. This workshop aims to raise awareness and empower equity-deserving groups and provide tools and resources to enhance access, opportunities, and success for equity-deserving groups at Dalhousie and in the community.

This workshop's objectives are to:

  • Create a collective learning space
  • Share information about how the Plan was developed
  • Explore the Employment Equity Plan priorities and actions
  • Discuss our shared responsibility in ensuring and requiring the Plan implementation
  • Identify where and how to find support
