This Canada Pension Plan (CPP) - Old Age Secuirity (OAS) session will provide an explanation of national pension benefits.
Early financial planning is very important in order to maintain a good lifestyle when you reach retirement age. Come and find out how you may qualify for benefits and provisions under the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) Programs. CPP provides contributors with a basic level of income protection in the event of retirement, disability, or death. Some of the benefits payable under CPP are the Retirement pension, Disability benefit, and Survivor benefits. Provisions such as Child Rearing, Credit Splitting, and Sharing of Retirement pensions are also available under CPP. OAS pays benefits to people in their 60’s such as the Old Age Security pension, Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), Allowance, and the Allowance for the Survivor. Find out more about the new changes to the CPP and the proposed changes to the OAS.
This session is open to all Dalhousie Faculty and Staff – 45 years and older.
