2018 Advising Symposium: Advising and Social Justice

Join us for our annual Advising Symposium. The symposium will take place on the Halifax campus in the Student Union Building on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.

The Advising Symposium is designed to facilitate professional development for Dalhousie advisors, staff and faculty.

The Advising Symposium is open to any Dalhousie or King's faculty and staff on all campuses who provide some type of advising to students.

The theme for this year’s symposium is Advising & Social Justice. Through a series of sessions; faculty, staff and advisors will learn about our diverse student populations and the potential influences of social categories such as gender, race, class, ability, sexuality, and religion on educational experiences. By attending the symposium, you will develop competencies related to respect, inclusion, and working with students who have various needs and lived experiences.

All participants will also receive a free Academic Advising and Social Justice Pocket Guide, published by NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.

For a full schedule of events, visit the Advising Symposium website.
