Health & Safety Measures while Supporting Students is the third and final session in a series of lunch hour workshops, hosted by the Centre for Learning and Teaching, entitled Faculty Workshop Series on Supporting Students, that will offer faculty members insights and strategies for supporting students with a variety of concerns.

This presentation will focus on providing faculty members with information and expanded skills to deal with students in distress. Facilitators Christina Elgee (Student Health Outreach Nurse),Hazel Ling (Social Worker),Joanne Mills (Director of Counselling),Diane Hawco (Ombudsperson, and Jake MacIssac (Security Services) willdiscuss issues of importance to faculty members, such as: recognizing common signs, taking care of your personal safety, clarifying professional boundaries,locating the necessary resources for assistance, and knowing how to appropriately approach a situation with a student exhibiting escalating behaviour.
