Supporting Students in Distress is the second session in a series of lunch hour workshops, hosted by the Centre for Learning and Teaching, entitled Faculty Workshop Series on Supporting Students, that will offer faculty members insights and strategies for supporting students with a variety of concerns.

Mental health for students is a campus wide responsibility. Joanne Mills, Psychologist and the Director of Counselling & Psychological Services will offer a presentation for faculty members focused on increasing your awareness and understanding of student mental illness and mental health problems, thus increasing your confidence to support students. She will offer information and resources to help you identify and respond to students in distress, and will discussall the available mental health services and supports for students at Dalhousie, including how to make a good referral for students, and how students will now be able to access the services of psychologists, physicians, counsellors, nurses, a social worker and a psychiatrist who work collaboratively to provide the best care in a timely way.
